Bora Bora is an island in the Leeward group of the Society Islands of French Polynesia, an overseas collectivity of France in the Pacific Ocean. The island is located about 230 kilometers (140 miles) northwest of Papeete and is surrounded by a lagoon and barrier reef. In the middle of this island are the remnants of a dead volcano of Mount Pahia and Mount Otemanu, which has a height of 727 meters (2385 feet) above sea level.
