Best of Hawaii: Our Favorite Hawaii Beach Holidays

Lanikai, Oahu

Our favorite beaches in Hawaii by far, Kailua and Lanikai have both been voted America's #1 best beach and are right next door to each other on Oahu's East Shore. Perfect for sunbathing, kayaking and snorkeling, these beaches are incredibly beautiful and amazingly secluded. Vacation homes line the shore, making Kailua and Lanikai the perfect setting for a destination wedding as well as a relaxing afternoon at the beach.

Sunset Beach, Oahu

There's nothing like a sunset at Sunset Beach on Oahu's North Shore. In the summer, a dip in Sunset's cool blue waters is the best way to beat the Hawaiian heat. By winter, the surf picks up and Sunset becomes a playground for professional surfers from around the world. Cruise by Pipeline, Shark's Cove and Waimea Bay while you're out there, other great recommends for North Shore beaches.

Hapuna Beach, Big Island

While there aren't too many beaches on the Big Island, Hapuna steals the show regardless. The drive up to Hapuna through Kona's lava fields or through the rolling pastureland of Waimea is breathtaking, with Hualalai and the Kohala mountains in full view. The beach is wide and the waves relatively calm, making Hapuna great for the whole family. p.s. pic by one of our favorite photogs, James Rubio.

Makena Beach, Maui

Makena, also known as 'Big Beach', is at the end of the road on Maui's South Shore. With miles of sand wrapping around the base of Haleakala and not a sign of civilization in sight, Makena feels like being on an uninhabited island, almost. While the pounding shorebreak can be intimidating to everyone but a Makena local, its beauty is definitely worth a visit. Little Beach just around the corner is much more tame, perfect for swimming and snorkeling.

Ke'e Beach, Kaua'i

Ke'e Beach may be the closest you intend to Kauai's spectacular Na Prakrit Coast. The terminal kibosh on Kauai's North Shore, Ke'e is also the first of the famed Kalalau Trail. This diminutive but celestial oasis is not brief on beauty and its waters are amend for swimming and snorkeling. Bring your hiking shoes with you as hiking modify a half mile of the Kalalau Trail provides you with spectacular views of the rugged Na Prakrit coastline.

The beach is what island is all about- the sun, sand between your toes and hearty blue waters- you won't be able to intend enough of it!
